Hussain Sajwani is the Founder, Chairman of the Board, and Chief Executive Officer of DAMAC Group. He founded the company in 1982 and was initially only involved in the catering industry. DAMAC initially started small, providing its services in the United Arab Emirates.
He soon expanded the company’s operations into the rest of the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and North Africa. Today, DAMAC Group supplies over 150,000 meals a day in over 200 locations. The types of locations it serves food in is army camps, 5-star hotels, educational facilities, and onshore/offshore oil drilling sites.
In 2002, Hussain Sajwani established DAMAC Properties, a luxury property development company. This came about because he saw a market opportunity when his country opened up owning real estate to foreigners. Under his leadership, DAMAC Properties has grown into one of the largest companies of its type in the Middle East.
Hussain Sajwani’s latest luxury development is located just outside of Dubai on almost 1,000 acres. The centerpiece of the development is a golf course that is named after Donald Trump who was a partner on the project. Another DAMAC Properties development that the company partnered with Trump on will be opening in the next few years. This one features a golf course, which will also be named after Donald Trump, that was designed by golfer Tiger Woods. This will also be located in the greater Dubai area.
As a philanthropist, Hussain Sajwani has donated to a number of charitable efforts. One of these efforts was launched by the leader of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The campaign initiated in order to provide clothing to impoverished children around the world. Sajwani donated AED two million which was enough money to clothe more than 50,000 children.
